VCHP supports the candidacy of Steve Bennett who is seeking a third-term as County supervisor representing communities in West Ventura County. Steve is a long-time advocate of open space and farm land preservation and was instrumental in the successful campaign to defeat a 1,390-house proposal for the Ventura hillsides in 2002.

"Here in Ventura, we have been trying to do things different and better than the rest of Southern California when it comes to urban sprawl and land use,” Steve said. “That is the reason I worked hard on the SOAR campaign and the campaign to save Ventura's hillsides. Once the land is developed it will not be available to future generations. Purchasing the hillsides above Ventura is the best way to protect them for dozens of generations to come. I applaud and support the efforts of the Ventura Citizens for Hillside Preservation and the Hillside Conservancy.”

VCHP encourages voters to re-elect Steve in March 2008.
